The changthangi or pashmina goat is a breed of goat from Ladakh, usually raised for meat or Cashmere wool (also known as pashmina).
These goats grow a thick warm fleece. They survive on grass in Ladakh of Kashmir, India, where temperatures plunge to as low as minus 20 degrees Celsius (minus 4 degrees Fahrenheit). These goats provide fine wool for Kashmir\'s famous Pashmina shawls. Shawls made from Pashmina wool are considered some of the world\'s finest and they are exported worldwide.
